England press conference and basically saying he wants out.
We all know it would happen but timing isn't great considering our form.
Sounds to me that a deal has been in place for this to be his last season and the spend up in the summer was in preparation for his departure.
To be fair, he deserves every bit of success in his club career and for his country. Would always get a warm welcome back from me, however I can't help but feel he is developing a big big ego and since having the captains armband he hasn't been the same player.

Re: Rice comments
good luck to him, with the current manager all I see is the other talented players following rice out the door. I just hope he ends up in madrid rather with those glory hunting cunts

Re: Rice comments
Couldn't agree more Mike
Would prefer to see him out in Europe at one of the big clubs such as Madrid but it will probably be the fucking rent boys

Re: Rice comments
What he wants is perfectly acceptable and it must be hard seeing his mates like Mount and the rest win Champions Leagues, titles etc... He is as good as they are if not better.

However, I am a bit disappointed with the timing of this.

It's nothing new, and really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

He has no choice but to go, but he has the air of tradegy about him. I don't think things will automatically pan out for him as he thinks they will. Wish him the best, though.

Re: Rice comments
No sorry. You are all being far to fucking liberal with Rice. What he said was tantamount to saying I'm leaving, I want Champions League, Its only one career, its not fair, im better that West Ham. Well boo-hoo-hoo Declan.

Well fuck him. The backlash starts now as far as I'm concerned. Once a player declares he wants to leave West Ham, he can fuck right off.

Club should sell him for as much as they can in January and hopefully by then Moyes will be gone and a half decent manager will be in place who can make good any funds that come his way.

Bye Dec, no not bye, fuck right off

He hasn't declared he wants to leave us.

Stop being so dramatic.

Moi, dramatic, oh the slings and arrows of barbourous intent have laid me low. I am not being dramatic at all, however, i am pissed, gotta love lunchtime drinking

Re: Rice comments
I find Rice a little nauseating and cringe and up his own backside a bit, I'm not convinced he's a good as he thinks he is either, great players don't spend most of the game passing backwards and sideways and with a poor assist and goal record. Compare him to someone like Gerrard, Keane or Lampard for example and he's not even on the same planet as them as far as I'm concerned. If you don't agree with that opinion I couldn't give a fuck.

Won't be that arsed when he leaves really.

Come On You Irons 6:15 Thu Dec 1
Re: Rice comments
Agreed Manuel. I too find Rice up himself and cringe. He has clearly developed a huge ego and is so up himself compared to the humble, hardworking team player he was when he first broke through. I suppose 5 years of people blowing smoke up your arse is bound to have that kind of effect.

Also, what is that dodgy barnet all about? That stupid haircut really winds me up!

If I was him I’d have put in a transfer request already.

Fuck playing for that boring ginger misery.

Re: Rice comments
Giving him the armband was a bad idea in my opinion.
Just inflated his ego which his talent doesn't need, now he seems to be happy to do quite a bit of talking rather than just getting on with his game and improving week on week week etc.
Noble for all his faults and limitations as a footballer never had an ego to my mind, and wore the armband with pride.
Rice seems to have used it as a look at me, captain of a PL club in the England squad, don't I deserve more etc.
He's been nothing short of immense for us and deserves everything that comes his way but let's not begin to tarnish a reputation with I'm bigger than thou comments etc

Re: Rice comments
I like Rice and will be sorry to see him go. He does his best for WHU and acts in a professional way. He is also very good and is a worthy Captain.

Btw, to compare him, unfavourably, with three English players who have always played a different role to him is a nonsense.

Takashi Miike 6:23 Thu Dec 1
Re: Rice comments
I know many players do it but go and watch the recent video of him in his 'kit room', where he has framed shirts of numerous world stars, and is joined by yaya toure. He's almost child like when talking about how he likes being around top players, I'm not in the least bit liberal but the signs were there in pre season and he's welcome to go as long as the twats in charge hand over most of the money to a new manager

Lee Trundle 6:23 Thu Dec 1
Re: Rice comments
Not sure I'd have given him the armband either.

But that's down to me accepting that he's leaving next summer.

Problem is, I don't know who else I'd have given it to.

Re: Rice comments
What I find nd cringe is the posters on this Board who do their utmost to dig out our WHU players. And if they cannot criticise their play they attack the players off the pitch, supposed, attitude or their haircuts etc.

Stevethehammer 6:29 Thu Dec 1
Re: Rice comments
I'm not digging him out, as I've said he deserves everything that comes his way. But the come and get me plea is pathetic.
Everyone who plays football will want to win trophies etc etc but why the need to make it public knowledge and put the spotlight on himself.

All he needed to say was, I'm captain of a Premier league club who have given me a path into football and as long as I'm captain I will give my all. I can't say what the future holds as no one does blah blah blah. The come and get me plea like I say is a bit much.

Let's remember Rice has been part of the team that sit 16th
Was part of the team that fell apart at home to Frankfurt etc

The lad is a brilliant footballer, who's watching the ball sail over his head every week, in a losing team that doesn't score goals. I'd be off like a shot if I was him too.

What has he actually said then?

I will say this though, he needs to sort that fuckin Barnet out.
